I just got back from Vegas. They said that it is a city in Nevada, but I'm almost sure that it's really an entirely separate country. They look different, they act different, they eat strange things, they don't drive right, and I couldn't understand what any of them were saying.
I did get to see "Tony and Tina's Wedding" last night... that was a great show... and there were so many things to see that I couldn't have seen them all even if I'd stayed a week.
I missed my flight to Rockford today because I was putzing around at the Hoover Dam and had to catch one to Chicago instead, and I'm so glad. This may have been the best part of the trip. We were flying low and it was very clear. I saw mountains and canyons and snow and rain and rivers and farms, and I got to see the sunset from the sky... it was so beautiful. I love the way that it feels to fly. Especially when the plane's taking off and, for just a minute, it feels like everything's dropped out from under you and you're on your own, being tossed into heaven. The rub, though, is that once you've flown you can't ever walk on the ground again without thinking about it. I guess that's the rub with a lot of what life throws, though, isn't it?
I'm so happy to be home and so SO tired. I took some pictures but I don't know how well they'll turn out. I'll post them soon either way.
Night.
