Strange Phrase Indeed

Bright sunny days, dark sacred nights

Friday Four
(Busy day... I ran out of time.)

The people that I work with buy me goofy birds for my desk. I’m not sure why.

The cleaning lady here (at work) tells me in a heavy Russian accent that it is Friday – every Thursday. I believed her twice.

Last week the training department had a meeting and they all left their classes unattended. I visited the new folks (just to be nice). When the trainers came back, their classes were all singing “Mr. Sandman”, and I got blamed. Again.

I grew up on a steer farm. We would go out and name the livestock and feed them by hand. We’d play with them and scratch their noses. Then, eventually, we ate them. My daughters think that I am a monster when I tell them this, but we never thought anything of it. They were beautiful animals… and they were delicious.

Theory
Into love and out again,
Thus I went, and thus I go.
Spare your voice, and hold your pen-
Well and bitterly I know
All the songs were ever sung,
All the words were ever said;
Could it be, when I was young,
Someone dropped me on my head?
-Dorothy Parker (1893-1967)

"Be of love (a little) more careful than of anything."
~ e e cummings

“Find the person who will love you because of your differences and
not in spite of them and you have found a lover for life.”
~ Leo Buscaglia

"This is one of the miracles of love: It gives … a power of seeing through its own enchantments and yet not being disenchanted."
~ C S Lewis

 Friday Five

I taught pre-school for about three years. The kids were great, but I left because the administrators gave me headaches.

I worked summers while I was in high school for an answering service, third shift. I was the only one in a small, dark office, and the phone almost never rang. I'd hang upside down in my chair, call my boyfriend, and talk to him. Sometimes I'd fall asleep while we were talking and he'd yell into the phone to wake me up.

Brett Favre (the kitten) found and ate a grasshopper today. Yum.

I once served reindeer meat on Christmas Eve. It seemed appropriate but, oddly, offended some of my guests. I also made bear meat chili and kangaroo meatballs. The kangaroo was horrible. Bleh. Really really horrible.

I tried to sell an identity crisis on Ebay, but they took down my listing.
